History
The Murri & Torres Strait Islander Network was formed over 10 years ago as an umbrella organisation supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of Logan, Beenleigh, Eagleby and Beaudesert region and became incorporporated on the 23rd December 1999.
Services
Our organisation provides a range of programs and services as well as being a peak body involved in community development. These include;
- Gunnadoo Vacation Care Program (children 4-13)
- In-Home Respite Care for families with disabled members
- Yabagar Early Intervention and Prevention programs (Indigenous children 0-14 years)
- Cultural activities
- Community lawn mowing, rubbish and furniture removal services
- Parenting support groups
- Emergency relief and food parcels
- Wajin Family Centre
- Indigenous lending library (Reading to your Jajumms)
Funding
Funding to support our organisations activities and programs comes from a range of sources, including;
- Department of Family and Community Services (DFaCS)
- Department of Employment & Workplace Relations (DEWR)
- Logan City Council
- Blue Care
- Horizon Foundation
- Interlink Housing & Support Association Inc.
- Family Assistance Office
- Memberships
- Sale of Books
- Community services that we provide such as Cross Cultural Training etc.
